These terms govern your use of the OwnFi mobile application and this website. By downloading or using OwnFi, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The service
OwnFi is a personal finance application that runs on your device. It helps you import, organize, and analyze your own financial information. OwnFi is provided free of charge, without ads or in-app purchases.
License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use OwnFi on devices you own or control, subject to these terms and the rules of the app store from which you downloaded it. You may not reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the app except where the law permits it.
Local accounts and your responsibility
OwnFi accounts exist only on your device — there is no server-side account and no way for us to recover your password or data. You are responsible for remembering your password, safeguarding your device, and creating and storing encrypted backups. If you lose your device or delete the app without a backup, your data cannot be restored by us.
Not financial advice
All insights, projections, calculators, and AI advisor responses in OwnFi are educational and informational only. They are not financial, investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice, and they may contain errors. Always consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
Accuracy of imported data
OwnFi parses statements, receipts, screenshots, and notifications on a best-effort basis. Parsing can be imperfect, and automatically extracted amounts, dates, and merchants may be wrong. You are responsible for reviewing imported transactions before relying on them. OwnFi is not a system of record for your finances — your bank's records remain authoritative.
Third-party services
Optional features fetch publicly available data from third parties: currency exchange rates, market prices for ticker symbols you add, and AI model files you choose to download. These services are provided by their respective operators under their own terms, may change or become unavailable at any time, and their data is provided without warranty of accuracy.
Acceptable use
You agree to use OwnFi only for lawful purposes and only to manage financial information you are entitled to access. You may not use the app to infringe the rights of others or to attempt to disrupt the app or the third-party services it accesses.
Disclaimer of warranty and limitation of liability
OwnFi is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, savings, or profits, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app — including losses caused by parsing errors, lost passwords, or lost backups.
Termination
You can stop using OwnFi at any time by deleting your local account from Settings and removing the app. We may discontinue the app or these terms' offering at any time; because your data lives on your device, discontinuation does not delete your local data.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
